Eve Gaumond
PhD candidate in law under the supervision of Full Professor Catherine Régis at the Université de Montréal
Eve Gaumond works at the intersection of law and technology and does so in a project-based manner. She’s a Ph.D student at the Université de Montréal, a member of the Barreau du Québec and an occasional contributor to the American media Lawfare. She also has a passion for coaching sports, which she hopes to turn into a vocation for teaching law. This passion serves as a beacon for her doctoral work, in which she’s thinking about responsible ways to use of AI to better prepare university students to tackle the challenges of the 21st century—climate change, new technologies and the decline of democracy and human rights, in particular.
She has presented her work at events such as the United Nations Internet Governance Forum in Kyoto and Taipei, the Citizens' Assembly on Democratic Expression in Ottawa and the U7+ Student Forum hosted by France’s École Polytechnique. She’s committed to publishing her research across various formats to appeal not only to legal scholars but also to computer scientists, policymakers, practitioners, and the general public.
